Martin Luther Church recently collected gently used and new stuffed animals for children in need. The items were sent to Loving Hugs, Inc which sends them to the children living in war zones, refugee and IDP (internally displaced persons) camps, orphanages and hospitals/medical facilities around the world to give them some emotional comfort through a soft, cuddly ‘portable hug’. The stuff animal "hugs" can also be used for emergencies and sent to children who are victims of natural disasters, such as the 2009 flood in Manila, Philippines, and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
