Martin Luther Church hosted Zion Lutheran Church and St. James Lutheran Church at this year's joint Mission Festival on November 7th. David and Wanda Kellog, volunteers with Heifer International, were speakers for the event. Collections were gathered to support the projects of Heifer International.
Heifer International is a nonprofit organization with a proven solution to ending world hunger and poverty that has helped more than 12 million families in more than 125 countries become self-reliant through gifts of livestock and training in their care. A key part of Heifer's work is the idea of Passing on the Gift, in which recipients agree to share one or more of their animals' offspring to others in need, so that the gift of food is never-ending. In 2009, Heifer had active projects in 54 countries and 28 states.
Below is a video about their work in Rajasthan, India where Heifer International is providing resources and training that empower women to lift their families out of poverty
Heifer International has an informative website sharing their success stories in specific locations.
