It's a very busy week on the church grounds the week before the sale. Members volunteer to man the premises as items are brought in by consignors. Items for sale need to be checked in, unloaded, tagged and placed in position for the day of the sale.

From a distance you can see that on the day before the sale there are a variety of items.
Over the years the size of the sale has increased dramatically. Ground adjoining the church property and owned by Wylie Holthus is utilized. On this particular sale year, this part of the sale grounds was used for livestock equipment, hay, hedge posts and parking.
A line of big equipment ready for sale day.
The day starts early for MLC church member volunteers on Saturday, March 6th. There's much work to be done before the 10:00 sale time.
The past weeks' weather brought snow melt from a long and snowy winter. The sale grounds had firmed up during the week before the sale but with a light rain during Friday night, the place abounded with mud!
Around 750 bidders were registered for the sale. With that many bidders, many guess that close to 1,000 people were on the grounds.
The MLC Women were feeding the masses with breakfast and lunch items at a food stand set up inside the garage.
The pies....many people that come to the sale comment that we have some mighty fine pie bakers in this church!
MLC members volunteer their help at one of the two sale rings selling throughout the day.

Throughout the day, MLC members were controlling and directing the traffic. Parking filled to the east end of the sale grounds leaving buyers to park along the roadsides in all directions. Several members shuttled those parking further away back and forth to their vehicles.
Members were on hand again to orchestrate the traffic and to help load the buyers' goods.

Dustin Eggers is not only ready to load up tires for this buyer but is giving him a lift on the way back to his pickup!
MLC members helped buyers load out items until 9:30 on Saturday night and during the day on Sunday. By the end of Monday, most of the items had been taken off the grounds. The sale committee used Monday night to prepare payments for mailing to all those who had consigned at the sale.
Part of the proceeds from the sale are split between the
Auburn, Johnson, Humboldt & Tecumseh rescue squads.
Volunteer workers of MLC once again worked together
to complete a BIG event!!
