Crystal (Speckmann) Neihoff was here and there around the world while serving in the Marines during 2009. She had been deployed in July, 2008 to Al Asad, Iraq serving as the Senior Air Coordinator in the Tactical Air Command Center. She explains that simply put, her job was the direct advisor to the Aviation Commander’s Representative for the Marine Corps on how to employ his aviation assets when things didn’t go according to plan. She returned January 31, 2009 to Miramar, California.
Crystal's husband, Nathan, returned from his seven-month deployment in early April, 2009 where he had been serving as the Civil Affair Officer for his unit. This meant that he spent his days working with Iraqis helping them build up their infrastructure. In early July, Crystal and Nathan moved to Fredericksburg, Virginia (about an hour south of Washington D.C.) where they are attending the Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School which will conclude in May, 2009. At that time, they are hoping to receive orders to stay in the area aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico.
Crystal and Nathan are pictured here on their first day of school in Virginia.
