In the Armed Forces - Matt Dieckhoff

Sr. Airman Matt Dieckhoff left September 24 for Iraq.  Matt is in Civil Engineering and serving in the Air Guard.  He has been deployed to work with the RED HORSE squardron.   This is the first time that Air Guard have been deployed to work with the RED HORSE squadron - There were 16 from the Lincoln Air Guard unit deployed. Matt and six other Air Guard are in Iraq, while the rest of his unit were sent to Afghanistan.

Matt is an operator of heavy equipment, dozers, backhoes, semi truck etc.  He was first located at Camp Baser and while there, he was in on the finishing dirt work for a Chapel on base, and helped pour the concerete flooring for the Chapel.

Currently Matthew is at COB Adder, southeast of Baghdad, in Iraq.  Since being moved to Camp Adder, he has primary been building the dirt berms for protection to the base and also building of the dirt berms that will surround some of the crude oil storage from that area. Matt probably will be going to Afghanistan the end of January and will be there until his deployment is over, tenetatively April 1, 2010.

Martin Luther Church members remember Matt this coming holiday season by gathering items and sending them to hopefully arrive before Christmas.  On December 7th, four boxes of goodies ranging from toothpaste to snacks were shipped overseas to let Matt know we are thinking about him!!!
