Martin Luther Church hosted a Patriotic Service Sunday, May 22nd for area veterans. Speaker for the event was Danny Danielson from Dorchester, a World War II and Korean War veteran. A noon meal was served for those attending. Members of the Patriotic Committee, Ron Meyer, Virginia Baack and Mary Findeis are assisted by many of members of MLC for this event.
This year, the family of Ernest Eggers was honored. Ernest Eggers of rural Elk Creek served in the US Army Asiatic Pacific Theatre during WWII in company C of the 58th Signal Battalion. He was stationed in New Guinea and served as Army Specialty-Heavy Truck Driver. He was a member of the Tracy Bates American Legion until his death in 1968.
